CalHomeNews: Tracking the latest news and trends in the housing market
Buying a house is a challenge in California, with fewer than one of every five families able to afford the median-priced home. Renting is difficult, too. Almost half of renters spend at least 30% of their income on housing, making it tough to save enough money for a significant down payment.
But homeownership is one of the best — and for many families, especially for ethnic households — ways to build generational wealth.
CalHomeNews aims to educate homeowners, wanna-be homeowners (also known as home shoppers), and renters with the latest news and trends. We collect data and information from numerous sources, from the California Association of Realtors to industry trackers such as ATTOM Data, CoreLogic, Redfin and Zillow. Knowledge is key to opening a door to a new home — and opportunities.
